Council and residents at legislature building to discuss jail

MLA Kris Austin, Mayor Nicklin, members of Council, and residents of Grand Lake gathered at the Legislature Building on November 28th, where Premier Holt officially announced that the Central New Brunswick Correctional Facility project in Minto will proceed as planned!

Our community should take great pride in the dedication and effort shown in demonstrating to Premier Holt and Minister Gauvin our strong support for this project. We eagerly anticipate the opportunities and growth it will bring to our region.

The first and second reading of this by-law will take place on November 25th, 2024.

traffic disruption – main st, Chipman – jan 19, 2025

Traffic will be down to one lane on Main Street in Chipman from 7am-3pm on Sunday, January 19th while CN makes repairs to the Main St crossing.

“Public notice is hereby given that the Council of the Municipality of Grand Lake has adopted By-Law No. 10 – A By-Law to Amend the Village of Minto Rural Plan, By-Law No. 149, and that the By-Law has been filed with the Provincial Land Registration Office.”

  • Open single lane detour bridge to traffic – September 2024
  • Start demolition of existing bridge – September 2024
  • Start construction of new bridge (this can start during demo of existing bridge) – November 2024
  • Completion of new bridge and open to all traffic – Fall 2025
  • Contract completion (i.e. removal of trestle, detour bridge, and reinstatement of area to original conditions – Fall 2026
