What began as a humble class project has blossomed into a remarkable museum experience that has welcomed visitors since 1997.

Located downtown Minto, the Minto Coal Mining Museum showcases all there is to know about the community’s past in the coal mining industry. Located inside the old train station, it is a beautiful glimpse of this community’s foundation. Dive into photographs and artifacts that illuminate the past and see for yourself some of the equipment used in the mine shafts. You can even see a miniature replica of the Maid Marion dragline, which retired in 2010. Just outside the museum is an authentic CN caboose. Hop aboard and become the conductor! Next door to the Museum is Veteran’s Park. Enjoy the beautiful landscape and relax under the gazebo.
